A Rather Large Rottweiler Gap in Life

April 24, 2008 by admin

Asleep on the sofaAfter Reg crossed over to the rainbow bridge to join Scoob, we were left with a large gap in our life, and on our sofa.

Scoob’s departure in July ‘07 caught up with us in March ‘08 when Reg departed and we experienced a double bereavement.

At about the age 18mths to 1 year, Reggie had come to live with us over 10 years previously when his owners divorced and could no longer provide the home life he’d been used to. From the outset he was wonderful, with minimal transition issues, he settled into the family home and a new routine.

Scooby arrived, much to Reggie’s distaste as he liked the boys, when she was 16mths and Reg was about 5 or 6. Scoob was a real challenge and was destined for the euthanasia needle. She had nearly every behavioural problem that existed and was lucky that Reg decided to be her mentor.

Despite being free from commitment and having the freedom to do whatever we liked, we began to realise that life was not the same without a boog. I managed to talk Edwood out of having a new fluffy Rottie (lets face it, they are weird lookers as pups) and we agreed that after a planned mini break we would look to give a Rottie a chance and rescue one.
